Your First Week In Burn

Most people join something like this and try to do all of it in the first weekend. Then week two arrives, the excitement has worn off, and the whole thing quietly stops.

So here is a smaller plan. One thing a day for seven days. None of it takes long, and at the end of it you will have started properly rather than started hard.

Day One: One Video, One Hello

Do not pick a program yet. Do not look at the whole library. Two things only.

Watch one thing — any single session that looks manageable. You are not training today, you are seeing what a session looks like from the inside so it stops being unknown.

Then go to the community and say hello. One line is enough: your first name and where you are starting from. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that predicts whether you are still here in March. A room where somebody knows your name is much harder to disappear from.

Day Two: Pick Your Program

There are six, and you are choosing where to begin, not signing a contract. You can change next week.

  • Gentle Burn if you are starting from a chair, coming back from surgery, or your knees make the decision for you.
  • Quick Burn if the real obstacle is time.
  • Core Burn if your back is the thing that limits you.
  • Cardio Burn if you want to move and sweat without jumping.
  • Strength Burn if you have decided to get strong, which is the choice I would make again.
  • Joyful Burn if you want it to not feel like exercise at all.

If none of that decides it, take the Find Your Starting Point quiz. It takes under a minute and it will pick for you.

One more thing today: complete the health readiness screening in your program’s Start Here section. It is short, your answers are private, and it exists so that nothing in here asks something of you that your body is not ready for.

Day Three: The First Session

Today you actually do one.

Fifteen minutes. Every session has a seated version, so if standing is not happening today, sit down and do it anyway — that is not the lesser version, it is the version.

Go at about half of what you think you can manage. I mean that. The most common mistake in week one is proving something on day three and being too sore to return on day five. Nobody is watching, there is no score, and the only thing that matters is whether you come back.

When you finish, mark nothing and tell nobody if you would rather not. Your workout history is yours — it is not posted anywhere and no other member can see it.

Day Four: A Rest Day Is Part Of It

Today you do not train, and that is the assignment.

Rest days are where the adaptation actually happens. If you have never trained before, your body is doing repair work today that matters more than another session would.

If you want to do something, walk. Ten minutes, easy. That is not cheating on a rest day, it is the best possible use of one.

And notice how you feel. Some soreness across the muscles is normal and fades in a day or two. Sharp pain in a joint is not, and it means a different session or a conversation with your doctor rather than pushing on.

Day Five: Find One Person

Go into the groups and find one person whose situation looks like yours. Post-surgery, on a GLP-1, over fifty, starting again after years off, the same starting weight, the same city.

Reply to something they wrote. That is the whole task.

I built this community because when I was in the worst of it, what I did not have was a room full of people who understood without me having to explain. Fifteen groups is a lot of doors. You only need one, and you only need one person behind it.

Day Six And Seven: What You Already Did

Do your second session on one of these days. The other one is yours.

Then look back at the week. You watched a session, chose a program, did two workouts, took a rest day, and spoke to two people. That is a complete week of everything this is supposed to be.

It does not feel like much. It is not supposed to. The weeks that changed my body were unremarkable while they were happening — it looked like an ordinary Tuesday, over and over. The transformation is only visible looking backward.

What Week Two Looks Like

The same, with a third session added. That is the whole progression, and there is no hurry.

You do not have to do this perfectly and you do not have to do it alone. Second attempt, fifth attempt, it does not matter here.

Nobody gets cut.

Nobody gets cut.

Burn is where I put everything that worked. Six programs built for bodies carrying more weight — and for the bodies that used to. A seated version of every session, no class times, and nothing to keep up with.
