Accessibility Statement
Burn exists because I could not find a fitness program that started where my body actually was. A site that people cannot use is the same problem in a different form, so accessibility is not a side project here — it is the point.
What we are working toward
Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not there yet on every page, and this statement says so plainly rather than claiming a conformance level we have not earned.
What is in place now
- Text is set at readable sizes and the site reflows on phones, tablets and desktops.
- Pages use real headings in order, so screen readers and keyboard navigation can move through them.
- Buttons and links are labeled with what they do, not “click here.”
- Forms — including the Health Readiness Screening — use visible labels attached to their fields.
- Color is not the only way information is conveyed.
- Images carry alternative text.
What we know still needs work
- Captions and transcripts on workout videos. The library is still being built, and captions are part of what ships with it — no video goes in without them.
- Color contrast on some buttons and background sections has not been fully audited yet.
- The community area runs on BuddyBoss and the workout courses run on Tutor LMS. Both are third-party platforms, and we do not control every accessibility detail inside them. We report problems upstream when we find them.
- Some older pages carried over from the site template have not been reviewed line by line.
The workouts themselves
Accessibility is not only the website. Every program in Burn has a chair-based or seated option, and Gentle Burn can be done entirely seated. Workouts are built around a mat, resistance bands and light dumbbells — no gym, no machines, no equipment you have to be a certain size to fit into. If a movement does not work for your body, there is a version that does, and if you cannot find it, ask me.
Assistive technology
The site is built on WordPress and is intended to work with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom up to 200%, and operating system text size and contrast settings. If your setup is not working, that is a bug on our end, not a mistake on yours.
Tell us what is broken
If you hit something on this site you cannot use, email burn@eattheweightoff.com. Tell me the page, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using — that last part is what lets me actually reproduce it. Response is usually within two business days.
If you need information from a page you cannot access, say so in the same email and I will get it to you another way while the page is being fixed.
