FAQs

The questions I get asked most. If yours is not here, send it to me.

Getting started

I have not exercised in years. Is this for me?

Yes. That is exactly who it is for. You can start in a chair — Gentle Burn can be done entirely seated. Nobody gets cut.

Do I need a gym?

No. Burn is built around a floor mat, resistance bands, and dumbbells. Mine never went above ten pounds. Train at home, at the Y, at Planet Fitness, or in your living room at eleven at night — wherever you will actually keep showing up.

What equipment do I need?

A mat, resistance bands, and a set of light dumbbells. That is it. If you do not have them yet, start with what you have and add as you go.

Do I need to be able to get down on the floor?

No. Gentle Burn and the chair workouts are done seated or standing. Core On The Floor is there for when you are ready for it, not before.

Is Burn only for women?

No. Burn is built for men and women, at every size and every starting point.

Which program should I start with?

If you are not sure, start with Gentle Burn. It is the ease-in, and there is no prize for starting harder than your body is ready for.

The workouts

How long are the sessions?

About fifteen minutes, three times a week. If you have more time, you can stretch a session to thirty, forty-five, or sixty minutes.

How long are the programs?

Every program runs four weeks or eight, and you choose. Four if you want to finish something. Eight if you want to go further.

What if I miss a week?

You pick it back up. There is no streak to lose and no perfect start to ruin. Come back anytime.

GLP-1, surgery, and health

I am on a GLP-1. Can I do this?

Talk to your doctor first. What I will say is that when weight comes off fast, some of what comes off is muscle — and that is exactly why every program here has both strength and cardio, not one or the other.

I have had weight-loss surgery. Can I do this?

Talk to your surgeon first, and follow whatever timeline and lifting limits they have given you. Those come before anything on this site.

Are you a certified trainer?

Not yet — I am working on it. What I have is 140 pounds lost and the road I took to get there, which is what Burn is built from. Always talk to your doctor before you start, and please read the Medical Disclaimer.

Do I have to fill out the health screening?

Yes. It takes a couple of minutes, and it is there so that you start in the right place.

Membership and billing

How much is it?

$19 a month, or $149 for the year. Your first 30 days are free.

What happens when the free trial ends?

Your membership renews automatically at $19 per month until you cancel. The first charge is posted 30 days after you sign up.

How do I cancel?

From Your Account, any time. No phone call, no email, and nobody trying to talk you out of it. Cancel before your free trial ends and you are not charged at all.

Do I get a refund if I cancel mid-month?

You keep access through the end of the period you have already paid for. Partial months are not refunded.

Is there an app?

Not in the App Store, and you do not need one. Burn runs in your phone’s browser, and you can put it on your home screen so it opens like an app — tap share, then Add to Home Screen. If a dedicated app ever makes sense, members get it at no extra charge.

Do I have to be 18?

Yes. Burn is for adults only, and you confirm you are 18 or older when you join. If you are under 18 and you want to get stronger, that is a good thing to want — talk to a parent or guardian and to your doctor about something built for your age.
